Jewelry Bench Overhaul, Part III

Jewelry Bench Overhaul, Part III

Jewelry Bench Overhaul, Part III

In one of my design research days, deep in a rabbit hole, I stumbled across a class about Symbolism in the Arts, it seemed right up my alley!

Something about it was pulling me in and I just gave in and registered. The next 9 weeks was a discovery of a language and menu of themes and topics fascinating and perfectly aligned with my heart's yearning. Our group bonded and to this day we are still holding monthly meetings.

This class gave me a context in which to develop the core topics of interest for Ofrenda, it showed me the boundaries I can choose to work with and clarified the themes I could explore while keeping the narrative and framework logical but interesting. It was a way to explore a personal path that could be translated into jewelry designs. This class was the first of other fascinating courses I have been taking, what a joy!

Adding mixed metal pieces to Ofrenda successfully blends with the story, I think, I'm happy with that decision, onwards!

This is leading me towards working directly with my hands again. So my jewelry bench has had an overhaul to start wax carving (after many years). I think this way of working will give form to new ideas and jewels that want to be birthed.

A group of Talismans have been brewing in my heart and they might just become the first carved pieces that see the light, so stay tuned!

The journey so far has been amazing, so many people have cheered me on and supported my work, I appreciate all of you!

The brand has been slowly growing, more designs have manifested and the body of work is growing. I have also started visiting some trade shows to check them out as well as looking into the wealth of resources available to independent designers.

Working at CMC with Christina and Ana has been pivotal as well as becoming a Fairmined Licensed brand.

Ofrenda Jewelry keeps maturing, slowly but surely. I want this journey to be joyous and not get caught in 'comparisonitis' or feats of performance. Thanks for reading.
